“The paintings are not dreams, they are not reality —
they are paintings.”
Jonas Greni (b. 1987, Oslo) is a Norwegian artist who primarily works within figurative oil painting, but also explores a range of other media, including photography, drawing, and printmaking.
Originally from Enebakk and now based in Oslo, Greni holds a Master’s degree from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design (2021), a Bachelor’s degree from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and an art education from Einar Granum School of Fine Art.
In Greni’s paintings, scenes are presented through subtle shifts and distortions of perspective and proportion, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and inexplicably unsettling. The viewer is left with a sense of dissonance – that something is slightly off – without being able to pinpoint exactly what it is.
