Biography

Halfdan Hallseth is a Norwegian  photographer working primarily with conceptual landscape photography, using nature, architecture, and traces of human presence to explore time, imprint, and ecological vulnerability.

In his artistic practice, Hallseth moves between documentary and staged expressions. Chernobyl Series is a visual study of abandoned spaces and nature’s reclamation of human-made structures, characterized by an emotionally charged color palette, quiet compositions, and a refined aesthetic gaze. His more recent series, Natural Clown, explores the opposite spectrum: intense color use and deliberate, almost performative manipulation of nature, commenting on humanity’s impact on the natural landscape.

Hallseth does not merely photograph landscapes; he seeks out the stories hidden within them. Some are dark, some playful, and all represent encounters between what we build and what we lose. His work forms a visual language that invites both aesthetic experience and critical reflection.

In addition to his practise as a photographer Hallseth runs the production company Fjord Productions, where he works concurrently with photography and film production, and is represented internationally as an actor.
