The exhibition “Fractured Self-Image – Artifacts from Pectus Excavatum” marks Aleksander Sahr’s first solo exhibition. In this body of work, Sahr explores the relationship between fantasy and reality.
In 2021, Sahr underwent major surgery to correct a congenital deformity known as Pectus Excavatum, or sunken chest. Over the past three years, he has collected objects associated with the operation and the ongoing pain management that followed. These objects have been transformed into imaginative artifacts — merging aesthetic codes and references from two vastly different worlds, blurring the line between fact and fiction.
Fact meets fable. Statistics meet saga. The rational meets the emotional.
Within the contrast between these two visual languages, unexpected commonalities emerge — creating space for interpretation, reflection, and imagination.
